Join us, as we take a look at the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius and the Germanic Wars during the second century AD. After a relatively peaceful era was enjoyed in the empire, unrest began to erupt on the northern frontier with the tribes in Germania causing tension. Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher-emperor, who had spent most of his reign along the frontier on the Danube River writing his Meditations, while battling stomach cancer, was faced with this looming dilemma, as well as with the plague from wars in the east. the reign of Marcus Aurelius saw the beginning of the decline of the old Roman Empire.
