Bus Trip - Fonthill Castle & Shopping at Peddler’s Village
Cost: $90 per person (credit card preferred)
Step back in time as we explore Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA—the remarkable home of Henry Chapman Mercer, archaeologist, scholar, and master craftsman. Built between 1908–1912, this architectural wonder boasts forty-four rooms, two hundred windows, and eighteen fireplaces, all showcasing Mercer’s world-famous tilework and collections.
On our guided tour, you’ll marvel at Mercer’s handcrafted tiles embedded throughout the castle, inspired by his travels and archaeological pursuits. Each room tells its own story, filled with unique artifacts, intricate details, and artistic flourishes that reflect the imagination and brilliance of its creator. History and architecture enthusiasts alike will be captivated by the mix of medieval, Gothic, and Byzantine influences woven into this one-of-a-kind masterpiece. (Please note: due to its historic design, the castle is not recommended for visitors with mobility issues.)
After our tour, we’ll continue the adventure at Peddler’s Village, a picturesque countryside destination featuring winding brick pathways, colonial-style buildings, and over 60 specialty shops and boutiques. Browse locally made crafts, home décor, clothing, and holiday gifts, or simply enjoy the festive displays and twinkling lights that make the village especially magical this time of year. You’ll also have time to grab lunch on your own at one of the many cafés, casual eateries, or sit-down restaurants throughout the village—ranging from cozy bakeries to farm-to-table dining.
